Maria Sharapova can’t seem to catch a break at the moment after having to retire in the first round of her comeback event in Wuhan. The Russian tennis queen had to pull out with an arm injury after just getting back to the game from a leg injury.
It was her first match since the Wimbledon semi finals back in July. So that has blown the draw in China open with Victoria Azarenka and Petra Kvitova scrapping out at the head of the field as 6/1 joint favourites.
Simona Halep is hot on their heels at great 7/1 value (being the best hard court player around at the moment) while a big nod has to go towards Britain’s very own Johanna Konta who is a massive 80/1 shot to win the Wuhan title, but in beating Andrea Petkovic in the first round, she extended her form to 19 wins in her last 20 matches and will become the new British number one over Heather Watson.
Kudos to Konta and all this week, Coral are offering tennis accumulator insurance. Place a five fold or greater accra on ANY pre-match or in-play tennis market and if just one leg of the wager lets you down then you will get your lost stake refunded as a Free Bet from them! The maximum free bet coming back is £25.
